Everything you need to get started with CreatorOS and make the most of your creative workflow.

Getting Started

1

Purchase & Download

Buy CreatorOS from the pricing page or download page. After purchase, you'll receive a license key via email. Download the app for macOS (Apple Silicon).

2

Activate Your License

Open CreatorOS, go to Settings, and paste your license key. Your license is tied to your machine and validates automatically.

3

Create Your First Topia

Click New Topia, choose a project type (World & Universe, Story & Script, Visuals & Video, Game & Interactive, Music & Sound, or Promote & Launch), and give it a name. You can optionally import existing files from your computer during setup.

4

Start Creating

CreatorOS includes a built-in local AI model (Gemma 3) that runs entirely on your Mac — no API keys, no setup, just start chatting. For more powerful results, you can optionally connect cloud AI providers like Claude or GPT in Settings.

Core Concepts

Infinite Canvas

Your entire workspace is a pannable, zoomable infinite canvas. Pages, assets, lore scrolls, and editor panels all float freely on the canvas. Drag them anywhere, anchor panels to screen edges, and arrange your workspace however you like — layout is saved per Topia.

Topias

A Topia is your creative project. Choose a type (World & Universe, Story & Script, Game & Interactive, and more) and focus areas to tailor how the AI assists you. Each Topia has its own theme, canvas, AI context, and workspace layout.

Lore Scrolls

Build a visual knowledge graph on your canvas. Lore Scrolls are colorful cards for characters, locations, events, and ideas. Connect them with labeled, directional lines to map relationships. The AI sees your entire scroll graph as world context.

Notes & Sheets

Notes are rich-text documents for lore, backstory, or ideas. Sheets are spreadsheet-style editors with templates like Character Sheet, Location Sheet, Timeline, and Save the Cat Beat Sheet. Both feed directly into AI context.

Stories

Write structured long-form content with title pages, parts, chapters, and image pages. Chapters support rich text with drop caps and custom AI-generated section dividers. Full book publishing settings let you configure format, font, margins, and page color.

Pages (Topia Design)

Pages are interactive web experiences that live on your canvas as resizable, draggable panels. Edit them with a code editor or visual editor, and they render in real time. Pages inherit your Topia's theme colors automatically.

Assets & Media

Import images, videos, audio, PDFs, and documents via the File Explorer or drag-and-drop. The built-in viewer handles every format. Large videos get automatic proxy transcoding for smooth playback. PDFs support full-text OCR search.

Version History

Every change to a page or document is tracked. Roll back to any previous version with one click. AI edits create automatic snapshots with an undo button, so you can experiment freely.

AI Chat & Actions

How It Works

CreatorOS gives the AI full context of your Topia — your lore scrolls, notes, sheets, stories, assets, existing pages, and theme settings. The AI doesn't just respond to questions — it can take direct actions in your project with your approval.

AI Actions

The AI can propose actions that appear as cards you can accept or decline. Actions include:

  • Create & edit pages — generate full web pages or surgically edit sections of existing ones
  • Create & edit documents — write notes, populate sheets, add story chapters, and update lore scrolls
  • Build your knowledge graph — create lore scrolls, add connections between them, and assign labels
  • Generate images — create images with local Stable Diffusion, DALL-E 3, or GPT Image and attach them to your project
  • Generate videos — create short videos with Sora 2 that import directly into your Topia
  • Customize your workspace — switch themes, change colors, adjust fonts, and navigate your canvas

@ Mentions & Context

Type @ in the chat to reference any asset, note, sheet, or story by name. The AI will pull in the full content of mentioned documents and detailed metadata for files, including OCR text from PDFs. You can also browse and select context through the Context Browser.

Text-to-Speech

Have the AI read its responses aloud with word-level highlighting. Choose from system voices, OpenAI TTS, or ElevenLabs. Configure separate voices for user and assistant, and auto-play new messages.

Save to Lore

After a productive chat session, use Save to Lore to extract structured documents from the conversation. The AI analyzes the full thread and proposes notes, sheets, and stories you can save to your Topia with one click.

Tips for Better Results

  • Fill out your lore scrolls and documents before generating — the more the AI knows about your world, the better the output
  • Be specific about layout and style: “a dark fantasy character profile with a hero image and stat block” works better than “make a page”
  • Use @ mentions to focus the AI on specific documents or assets
  • Grant blanket permissions per document type to let the AI work faster without per-action confirmations
